As a Christmas gift I signed Bill and Colin up for swim lessons. The first couple of times they got in the water, Colin just stared at all the activity going on around him. He wasn't very animated in the pool. These last few classes, however, Colin enjoyed splashing, chasing after the water balloon, and was the first kid in his class (of 3 guppies) to try the water slide! (Thanks to dad getting bored and sticking him on the slide to see what he'd do) Again, throwing caution to the wind, Colin would climb part way up the slide and inch himself down until he slid into Bill's arms. The other kids soon joined in the fun.

Panda Bear, Panda Bear What Do You Hear?
The sound of Crazy Colin comin' atcha! I'm not entirely sure that we should promote UFC rounds with endangered stuffed animals.
Just the right size, Panda and Colin like to face off in the middle of the room. Panda usually hangs out in the tot chair. Colin will walk up and climb all over the chair and the bear. Then he tosses the bear on the floor and pins him to the mat.
Once again, when I get the video camera out, he's just not that into it.

Hi Colin. No Colin.
I dropped Colin off at daycare today and the older kids, in unison, said, "Hi, Colin!". A slight pause, then, "No, Colin!". I flashed to the scene from Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome with the orphaned kids. "Mr. Walker...Mrs. Walker!" A little weird.
Apparently, "No, Colin" has been said a lot lately. When he gets excited Colin waves his arms up and down frantically and whacks whatever is in his way. It's quite a good swat. Ergo, some of the kids have been in the way of Colin's exuberant behavior. Uh-oh.

Photo: The cat insists on being rocked along with Colin. Such a baby. Colin is cruising along now. Nice belly! And, I think I was sneezing.

Walking
Colin had begun to take a few steps the weekend before his birthday. Then he tried walking in earnest the night of his actual birthday! Evidently he is such a planner that he wanted to actually BE 1 year old when he started to walk.
We hope you enjoy this little video clip as much as we did!!! Notice how Colin is shoving Mommy's hand away. Big Boy walkin'!

1st Birthday
Big weekend, last weekend. Lots of family came to celebrate Colin's 1 year birthday. G'ma Mary, G'pa Bill, Nanna Sheila and Pappa Bill, Jen, Zoe and Justis, Christine, uncle Russ, and (great)-uncle Paul. Fortunately, Kathy and John were able to host the festivities for us. Many thanks for all the help in preparing and during the party everyone! Colin had a great time!
No real smashing of the cake. Colin was more interested in really tasting the icing and cupcake. He received lots of great gifts (books, clothes, noisy toys...), and some great big gifts (a Tweety bird stroller, a pint sized chair, and an Audi quattro).
Colin napped eventually. Later, we all gathered again for a big meal at Buca di Beppo. Great location to feed an army like ours. It was birthday night as all the tables around us had someone to sing too. It was wonderful people watching for Colin, so he was easily entertained as well as very entertaining the entire evening.
