HEAD!

Bill noticed earlier this week that Colin's head is bigger. He's a block head. Ha! It's amazing how much he changes week to week now. We just get use to him one size and the next day he seems to have grown or weighs more. Makes me kinda sad. I have to remember to take this all in and commit it to fond memory. Well, except for that first month and a half when I was a walking zombie.

Colin still is not a fan of tummy time. We should do a better job of working that into our evening or morning playtime. But, he LOVES to stand up and look around. We hold him up under his arms and he keeps his legs firm. With his bobble head he gazes all around with interest.

We Survived the 1st Week

Everyone seems to have survived our first week of everyone back to work, starting full daycare, new evening and morning routines. It's not perfect, but we are figuring it out. I forgot to pay the daycare on time, I've forgotten bottles at daycare, Colin's pooped through a couple of outfits, etc. etc. You get the idea.

Colin was exhausted his first fews days of full daycare. We would get him home around 6pm and by 6:30pm the little guy was crying to go to sleep. So, we'd run through a quick bath, dinner, skip the bedtime story, and right to bed. He went out like a light. By Wednesday he started staying up a little longer and we seem to be back on for a 7pm-7:30pm bedtime routine.

He still has his cold and is full of snot. Bill handles the nasal aspirator (I say "eww!"). Colin doesn't seem to mind it. He finds he's relieved of a plugged nose and laughs when he and Daddy are sucking out his nose. A friend also suggested J&J bath wash with Vapor to help clear his breathing during bathtime. Whew, that clears the senses!

Again, we plan to add photos this weekend. Happy Mother's Day to all you moms reading this! My boys sent me flowers at the office. They are lovely.

1st Road Trip

We planned our first family road trip last weekend to visit G'ma Mary and G'pa Bill and Bill's sibs so they could all meet/play with Colin. This was our first overnight stay and practice run for all the baby crap, I mean 'necessities', we'll haul around for the next several years!

Uncle Russ hosted Great G'ma Kate and the sibs for a night of fast action (haha) Poker. Aunt Christine had Lady Luck on her side, but G'ma Kate finished big winning the last hand. We also celebrated Bill's and G'ma Mary's birthdays with cakes (yes, plural) and ice cream. Cousin Zoe couldn't get enough of her new baby cousin. Future babysitter perhaps?!?

When he was ready for bed, we put Colin in the Pack 'N Play and he slept through everything. He wasn't fazed a bit. Or, he was just so exhausted from being the star attraction.

G'ma Mary found the quilt that her mother made for Bill when he was born. We now have it for Colin to use (see photos). Nice to have such items to pass through the family. She also saved Bill's baby saddle shoes. They just fit Colin! One more week and it may be a tough squeeze for those chubby baby toes.

Colin did very well on this trip, even sleeping on the drive up and back. Next time we tack on one more hour when we head to the Lake. Wish us luck!

1st Week of Daycare = 1st Cold

We started Colin in daycare half days this week to get him use to going and me use to not having him with me all day. His caretaker said he cried a lot his first day and missed his mommy. But each day has been easier for him. He went a full day on Thursday and Bill handled the pick up at 6pm. I got to spend the day getting a massage & pedicure and ran a ton of errands!

When Bill and Colin arrived home we noticed Colin sneezing every few minutes. Then the cough developed. Our first cold! It knocked him out. He slept most of the night and woke up full of mucus and coughing. I wasn't sure if I should take him to daycare, but he wasn't running a fever and, hey, they gave him whatever bug he has, so they can deal, right?!? I picked him up at noon and they said he'd slept most of the morning. He did finish a 4oz bottle. Since he was still asleep when I loaded him into the car I kept our lunch date with some moms-to-be and new moms from work. And, he slept through lunch. He did eat some when we got home, but he soon fell asleep again. Poor little guy. I propped up one end of his mattress to help him breath, however, every time I checked on him he had slid a few inches down the mattress. I need to find a flatter pillow to use as a prop. Hopefully he's better by Monday or my first day back to work is going to be even harder to get through!

Sleep At Last... Sleep At Last

Whew! First night of trying out a bedtime routine went fairly well. Colin had a bath, a little dinner, a bedtime story and then wailed for about 20 min. in his bassinet. After a bit of comforting he fell asleep at 8:30PM and didn't wake up again until 2:30AM! Then he easily fell back to sleep and was up at 6AM. Not bad. Everyone had a chance to catch up on some zzz's.

This morning we have a very happy baby as you can see by the playful photo of Colin, Clifford and Squish the flat frog. We are heading out for a walk to enjoy this gorgeous day.

O-H-I-O

Last weekend we attended our first official tailgate party. Colin passed out half way through the event and didn't even make it to the Spring Game! How many of us have done that in our youth? Or yesterday?

Anyway, he donned the appropriate school colors and received many compliments on his cuteness. It was a bit chilly so the jacket covered his Buckeye onesie with "future tailgater" on the bum.

Hello Ma-ma...

Shannon took this excellent photo so I just wanted to give an update today so we can get the picture out here.

Colin has had quite a week this week. We certainly hope he is growing because he is still eating pretty well but seems to be sleeping less. He wants to stay-up now even when he is all crabby and sad. We think we are beginning to figure it out though, and now about 9:00 we know to expect the fussiness to start (and it does, like clock work!) so there is usually a pretty good rush around here each night to ensure Shannon and I are both prepped and set for the "evening" to begin.

Some evenings have been better than others, but, as we get more experience under our collective belt we seem to be gaining on it.
