Colin and Sydney flew by themselves to Grandma Camp before Lake Week. Otis, Opal, Emma and Sam were also campers this year and were excited to welcome CP and Syd.
Syd was worried Colin would fall asleep on her. I suggested she give him the window seat so he could lean on the window. He fell asleep on her shoulder anyway.
We made it to another last day of school!
Syd's last week of 6th grade was mostly movies and games. Today, the 6th graders have the school to themselves for a big party of games, etc.
Colin has a half day left of 10th grade to finish up any work left to do.
Whew!
After much hullabaloo with the state system for getting a driver's license (40 hours driving, 15 hours at night, parent clinic, online hurdles to schedule an appointment...), he passed his road test on the first try. He was nervous after he rolled through a stop sign, but nailed the parallel parking and 90 degree backup parking.
Sydney was nominated by her math teacher for Student of the Quarter. The middle school hosted a stage presentation to give out the certificates to kids each quarter followed by a very nice breakfast reception.
Papa signed Colin up for the Audi Teen Driving Clinic, an all day behind the wheel clinic to give teens a sense of extreme driving conditions. Colin had a blast and really enjoyed the experience. My car survived, too. He knew one other kid from Adventures in Cardboard camps.
Celebrated Sydney's 12th birthday with cake, candles, and gifts. Her pal party was again at SkyZone. Kids gift a lot of chips and candy!
