Sooo Big!

So much is changing in our little guy, I thought I should get it all on the blog.

Colin loves "running"-- while hanging on to your fingers we go tearing through the house. It's not so much running as moving his legs back and forth while being half dragged and giggling all the way.

He's popped up his 8th tooth, on the bottom. And, now he's working on 2 lower molars! Poor guy has been a crank. Part of me wants to slather all his teething toys in Oragel until we get through this.

When daddy burps, Colin fake burps. Nice, I know. And he fake coughs. Best yet, he fake cries. That's actually pretty funny as he tries to figure out what will manipulate Mommy and Daddy. He'll whah whah whah and then look at us as if he's wondering "did that work?".
He's standing on his own while clapping his hands. It's brief and might last longer if he didn't knock off his balance with the clapping.

Favorite finger foods are mango, banana, avocado, blueberries and the old standby, string cheese. I try to keep up the variety when we have time to experiment with new foods.

And today, we swear he answered "hi da da" to Bill's "hi buddy" greeting. Pretty cool.
Photo: We bought a play yard, aka Gitmo. He's not too thrilled about it.

Baby Talk

We've started to teach Colin some sign language to see if it helps our lines of communications. He's picked up Hi/Bye (of course), All Done, Eat, Water (kind of the same as Eat), and Milk. We are also showing him Diaper Change, Bath, and More. Aside from speaking Da Da, Ma Ma, I think he's starting to say Hi -followed by some baby jibberish.

This morning, as he was nearing a nap, Bill was reading to him. Colin was doing a good job of chillin' and even kept his pacifier in his mouth for the most part. Then he saw me, made the sign for milk and went back to looking at his book with daddy. At first we thought he was waving Hi. He pulled out his pacifier, looked at me and made the milk sign again. Again, I waved Hi back. He did it a third time. Finally, duh, mom make some milk. Geesh. I made the milk, took him to his room, he ate some and then took his nap. Parents are so slow!

It's Box -Colin Update

So I'm enjoying my time in the box, starting to figure out the design features, etc. I toss few toys out of the box. Pretty cool stuff. Soon I want one of the toys I tossed out. I reach over for it. Then, blam, I catch the floor with my face! My first busted lip and there's blood! Ugh! What is that about? The safety rollover feature was not engaged. Mom came over, cleaned me up, and gave me an ice cube. I'm doing better. -Colin out.

It's Box, It's Box...

"It's Box, Box, it's big, it's roomy, it's wood.
It's Box, Box, it's better than bad, it's good!
Everyone wants a Box! You're gonna love it, Box!
Come on and get your Box! Everyone needs a Box!"
-Adapted from Ren and Stimpy's "It's Log".

Many an evening is spent with Colin sitting in his nine
3lbs. bags walnuts box from Costco. He loves being
pushed
and pulled around, much like a sled, on the
kitchen floor.
Toss in a few toys or let him figure out
the side
flap and bang on it, and he's set for a good
20 min or so.

Water Baby

This kid can't get enough of his bath time. He loves splashing and sticking his face in the water. When we are done soaping him up, we hose him down with the shower head. He loves trying to grab the water and shoves his face into the spray. Then he looks up at us like "look at me, I'm so crazy!" And laughs. We are hoping this will translate well when lake season begins next year. We will probably look at baby "swimming" lessons before then.

Baby Dinner Party

Elizabeth and Foster graciously hosted Colin and Grace for a dinner party one evening. They did allow the parents to come. The girls had a great time playing dress up and being chased by Foster. Colin just climbed on things and drooled on toys. He enjoyed watching the older kids.

At dinner, Colin enjoyed his first, and probably last, teething biscuit. It stuck to his face, hands and highchair like tar! I had to "presoak" his face before I could get a layer off. I wonder how they would work as facial masks...ew.
