Summer Update

It's August and the back to school ads are flooding the media and mail. I've been remiss in posting and sharing pictures. Some are on Facebook. We have been focused on making sure Papa Guitar makes a full recovery from his illness!

Colin has been a busy 2 1/2 year old. He and his best buddy, Kelly, rule the roost at school (daycare). Kelly is home part time with his grandmother and on those days Colin is really bummed.

We do enjoy running out to our square foot garden to look for the red tomatoes. "Not the orange or green ones, Mom," he says with authority. We became Mom and Dad sometime this June. Mommy and Daddy are reserved for emergency purposes. He loves to shorten names. Cousin Zoe is Zo! And buddy Kelly is Kel! Such a cool dude.

Colin learned a valuable lesson not to pick up bumble bees having been stung at school one afternoon. His thumb swelled, but he survived. We had a fly in our house the next day and Colin grabbed me to ask if that was a bee! I said, "It's a fly and they don't sting." I think he's over his fear, as we recently watched some bees enjoy our new flowers and he asked with his charming smile, "I touch'em, Mom?"

We are working on identifying the letters of the alphabet. He knows most of them regardless of their order and he's counting to 20 (with 14 and 16 giving him a little trouble). The potty training is still a ways away, but Colin is showing signs of interest in trying. We've had a few successful attempts. What a process!
